12/14/2007 - Service Update
Meadville Online is updating our acceleration
software from Proxyconn to FastNet. Hopefully this will resolve
surfing issues that have been common with Proxyconn.

11/12/2007 - New Mail Server
Meadville Online would like to announce a new mail server
and enhanced webmail. Please check your email for important
information on setting up your account on the new server as well as making
any changes to your pc settings.
11/01/2007 - New Access Number
Meadville Online has a new dialup access number.
350-2015. This is still a local Meadville number. This number
will be the ONLY access number after 11/15/2007.
When dialing this new number your username will be your
entire email address. (username@mdvl.net)

05/30/2007 - Network Outage
Our Internet connection was
down for most of the afternoon today due to a cut fiber optic line.
Internet service in Northwestern PA and some telephone service was
disrupted. Service was restored at 5:00 PM.
SERVICE CANCELLATION POLICY
-
A customer may cancel
their account by providing thirty (30) days notice to our Billing
Department.
-
We do not accept email
cancellations. We must have verbal confirmation of the intent to cancel,
and the account information before a cancellation request will be
processed.

If the customer chooses to
close their account, and then reopen it at a later time, the customer is
not eligible for promotions occurring when they reopen their account.

Non-use of an Internet account
is not considered to be equivalent to cancellation. Notice must be
provided verbally to terminate billing.

Any account that cancelled
because of non-payment will be sent to collections if payment is not
made within thirty (30) days of becoming delinquent.

Accounts that are cancelled
before the expiration of their subscription time are not eligible for a
refund.
Past Information and Messages
Meadville Online recommends that organizations
and individuals follow three safe practices.

Avoid social engineering tricks – Do not
click on email attachments or links in emails. Verify that the sender is a
trusted source. Then, save attachments to your disk, examine the real
filename first.

Ensure that you’re running proactive
antivirus software that excels at detecting new zero-day threats. Recent
comparative tests performed by AV-Test.org, an independent antivirus and
anti-spyware testing organization, located at the University of Magdeburg,
show ESET’s NOD32 detects worms proactively – without signature updates.

Implement and practice a consistent, frequent
backup policy. Data loss can occur for many reasons not attributed to
malware. It’s good to be safe.

Make sure that any antivirus software
currently installed on your PC is updated and working properly.
If you are currently running expired or
outdated antivirus software or have no protection, NOD32 AntiVirus software
is available from Meadville Online.
Effective April 7th 2004... Meadville Online is now requiring a 30-day notice prior to
discontinuing service. If we are not informed of your intent to cancel
at least 30-days prior to your next bill due date you may be charged for an
additional month of service. Please refer to our new service
cancellation policy below.
